National fancy Wyck Hill on the move

Leading owner JP McManus has put his hand in his pocket to buy Grand National fancy Wyck Hill and he could secure a rapid return on his investment as the nine-year-old is due to run in the Racing Plus Chase at Kempton this Saturday.

The David Bridgewater-trained gelding has progressed rapidly this term and impressed many observers with his comfortable win over Katenko in December.

Wyck Hill also has an entry in the Gold Cup at Cheltenham and Bridgewater has claimed the horse will have to do something ‘extraordinary’ at the weekend to justify that entry.

But the trainer does say he is improving at a rate of knots and the bookmakers are wary – Wyck Hill is 11/4 favourite with bet365.

This race is historically a hugely competitive heat, but it does not look the case this time around. Wyck Hill being 11/4 is an indicator of this, while there are only 14 entered at this stage.
